Marvel at Wildlife at Boston Area Zoos & Aquariums

Take a walk on the wild side and spend a day at one of the fantastic zoos or aquariums in the Boston area. Whether you’d like to dive into the deep and marvel at aquatic life or keep your feet on dry land, these local institutions have you covered. Below are a few you can check out near our Mission Hill apartments in Boston.  Plus, many of them offer animal cams that let you hang with wildlife from the comfort of home.

New England Aquarium

The New England Aquarium is dedicated to marine animal conservation and education. In addition to checking out penguins, turtles, and exotic fish, you can experience swimming with a moray eel or watch trainers feed a giant Pacific octopus in one of their YouTube videos.

Zoo New England

Zoo New England has some really fun videos available. You can watch a peacock-training session or learn how a 6-month-old Australian Shepherd is helping with box turtle conservation. Learn about the zoo's animal ambassadors and how they are making life better for their counterparts in the wild.

7 Seas Whale Watch

While not technically an aquarium, 7 Seas Whale Watch is still a great option for when you want to see fascinating wildlife. In fact, their expeditions which depart from Gloucester are acclaimed for getting up close and personal with humpback, finback, and minke whales. Occasionally, guests will also spot dolphins, sharks, and seals. For an exciting preview, check out one of their YouTube videos
